The vision and mission of the Empowerment Academy is that all students will be at or above grade level and that all students will demonstrate proficiency in an arts discipline through performance or portfolio. “Literacy Through the Arts”
is the theme for our instructional program. The “arts” are integrated throughout all curriculum areas with students actively engaged in learning each day. Each artistic discipline maintains a rich body of knowledge that enables students to understand their works in ways that support and enhance their learning in other core subjects as well.
As a charter school focusing on Literacy Through the Arts, we provide a supplemental “arts” programs
for our students which include visual art, dance, theater, and music. Due to this focus, students’ academics are enhanced,
their interest and learning styles and tapped, and skills in the arts are cultivated.
To provide these unique learning opportunities,
we still need help from our community. Your help is very crucial to our longstanding efforts in providing a quality education
to children in under-served areas of the city.
